MASTERS PROGRAM

The following are the classes that I completed as part of my degree. The descriptions are from the CU Denver student resources.

INTE 5660 Designing and Teaching in eLearning Environments (6 credits)

In this hands-on course, students use a variety of tools and strategies to design and teach in eLearning environments. The course covers critical aspects of designing and teaching an online course, such as planning a successful online learning experience (both group-paced and self-paced instruction); designing eLearning materials and resources; being an effective online teacher, including leading, managing and assessing online discussions (both asynchronous and synchronous); getting the most out of a course management system; and assessing course effectiveness.

INTE 5670 Developing eLearning Instruction (6 credits)

In this applied course, students build an online learning course (as planned during INTE 5660) while developing basic skills with Web and multimedia eLearning authoring tools. You will learn how to enhance online courses by incorporating interactivity, content management and multimedia design strategies. Prereq: INTE 5660 or permission of instructor.

INTE 5160 Managing Information and Learning Technology Programs. This course addresses problems, principles, and methods relating to the management of projects, personnel, and resources. Topics include project management, cost estimation and budget development, resource planning, and team collaboration. For those working in adult-learning setting (K12 teachers should take INTE 6999).

INTE 5340 Digital Storytelling in the Curriculum

Part of a graduate certificate in Digital Storytelling, this course also serves as an elective in the MA program. Offered as an 8-week course, you create a digital story designed for educational uses, and develop a curriculum unit that incorporates digital storytelling in your subject matter.

INTE 5680 Media and Mobile Learning

Media provide learners experiences they couldn’t have in a traditional classroom. This course is designed to bring out your creative side as you find pictures, sound, and video to convey ideas and enhance communication. You will complete a project for mobile delivery, enhanced by media and accessible through connected devices such as smart phones and tablets. Topics includes in development tools for mobile devices; managing design constraints and affordances; workplace learning; and mobile integration into online courses and resources.

INTE 6710 Creative Designs for Instructional Materials

This course is a project-based exploration of instructional-materials design theories, principles, and best practices used to communicate complex information to a diverse audience for the purpose of teaching and learning. You will explore how other disciplines create visual and online designs, and the role of creativity in the design process. You will apply unique design approaches and formats to the creation of print- and presentation-based instructional materials.

INTE 6720 Research in Information and Learning Technologies

This course supports your completion of an action-research project in an inquiry area of your choice, often within your own work setting. Breaking down the process into steps, you complete a proposal addressing a problem of practice, followed by literature review, data analysis, report of findings, final report, and presentation – with ongoing review and feedback from instructor and peers.

INTE 6750 Current Trends and Issues in Instructional Technology

This course examines definitions, history, core concepts, and current trends and issues related to the practice of instructional technology.  Topics include instructional systems design, theories of learning and instruction, change management, performance improvement, emerging technologies, equity and access, and mobile learning.
